Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
“I am the Good Shepherd. I know my sheep and mine know me.” – John 10:14
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a beautiful and Montessori-based faith formation program designed especially for young children to encounter the love of God in a personal and hands-on way. Rooted in Scripture and the liturgy of the Church, this catechesis invites children into a deeper relationship with Christ, the Good Shepherd, who calls each of us by name.
What makes CGS unique is its use of a specially prepared space called the Atrium, where children engage with age-appropriate materials that are rich in symbolism and rooted in the Bible and liturgy. These materials—miniature altars, vestments, maps of the Holy Land, and more—are made to be touched, moved, and contemplated, helping children discover and absorb the mysteries of our faith through their senses and natural capacity for wonder.
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is especially suited for children ages 3 to 6 (Level I), with additional levels for older children as they grow. It is not a traditional classroom—rather, it is a sacred space where the child and God can grow together in love and understanding. We Need You!
To continue offering this spiritually rich program, we are in need of more volunteers to serve as catechists and assistants in the Atrium. No prior teaching experience is required—only a love for God, a heart for children, and a willingness to be formed in this method. Training is provided.
Whether you are a parent wishing to enroll your child or a parishioner feeling called to serve, we warmly invite you to be part of this beautiful ministry.![]()
