Infant Baptism 

Who is Infant Baptism for?

Infant baptism is available for children from birth through age 6.

Children ages 7–17 must participate in the Catechumenate for Children / Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC), which begins every September. These children will receive Baptism, Confirmation, and First Holy Communion on the Friday following the Easter Vigil.

How to Prepare for Your Child’s Baptism

Step 1: Attend the Baptism Preparation Classes

Parents and godparents must attend two baptism preparation classes.

English Classes

1st & 2nd Tuesday of the month
6:30 PM — FLC Building

Spanish Classes

3rd & 4th Tuesday of the month
6:30 PM — FLC Building

No registration is required for the classes.
Simply come to the first class and sign in when you arrive.

You must attend both classes in order to receive the certificate of completion.

Step 2: Complete the Baptism Registration Form

For the actual baptism, parents must complete the Baptism Registration Form. It will be given to you during the 2nd class but you can bring it already filled out if you wish. 

Please print the form, fill it out, and bring it with you to the classes or to the parish office.

Step 3: Submit the Required Documents

Please submit the following documents to
[email protected] or bring them to the parish office (Attn: Elida):

• Child’s Birth Certificate
• Completed Baptism Registration Form (given during the 2nd class)
• Godparent Affirmation of Eligibility Questions (given during the class)
• Certificate of attendance at the baptism classes (received after completing both classes)

Baptism Ceremony Schedule

Spanish Baptisms
2nd & 4th Saturday of the month
10:00 AM

English Baptisms
3rd Saturday of the month
10:00 AM

The baptism date is not confirmed until you receive an email confirmation from the Baptism Coordinator (Elida).

Godparent Requirements

Godparents must:

• Be at least 16 years old
• Be a baptized Catholic who has received First Communion and Confirmation
• If married, be married in the Catholic Church
• Live according to Christian values

Only one godparent is required, but if there are two, they must be one male and one female.

Donation

Baptism ceremonies and preparation classes at St. Bartholomew are free of charge.

Donations are welcome on the day of the ceremony but are not required.

El bautismo infantil está disponible para niños desde recién nacidos hasta los 6 años. Los niños de 7 a 17 años deben asistir al proceso de catecumenado (RCIC) para niños, que comienza cada septiembre, y recibirán el bautismo, la confirmación y la primera comunión el viernes siguiente a la Vigilia Pascual.

Requisitos para el Bautismo:

• Clases de Preparación para el Bautismo son obligatorias para los padres y padrinos.
• Enviar los siguientes documentos a [email protected] o entregarlos en persona a Elida:
  • Acta de nacimiento del niño
  • Formulario de Registro de Bautismo (entregado en la 2da clase)
  • Formulario de Afirmación de Elegibilidad del Padrino (entregado en clase)
  • Comprobante de asistencia a las clases de bautismo (recibido después de la segunda clase)
• La fecha del bautismo no se confirma hasta recibir un correo electrónico o aviso de la Coordinadora de Bautismo (Elida).

Clases de Bautismo:

• Inglés: 1.er y 2.º martes del mes a las 6:30 PM en el edificio FLC.
• Español: 3.er y 4.º martes del mes a las 6:30 PM en el edificio FLC.
• No es necesario registrarse. Se requiere asistencia a ambas clases para recibir el certificado.

Ceremonias de Bautismo:

• Español: Cada 2.º y 4.º sábado del mes a las 10 AM
• Inglés:  Cada 3.º sábado del mes a las 10 AM

Requisitos para los Padrinos:

• Deben tener al menos 16 años y ser católicos bautizados que hayan recibido la Primera Comunión y la Confirmación.
• Si están casados, deben estar casados por la Iglesia Católica.
• Se requiere solo un padrino, pero si hay dos, deben ser un hombre y una mujer.
• Deben vivir de acuerdo con los valores cristianos (casados por la Iglesia o solteros).
